The early chapters can be used by near beginners and the book progresses to intermediate level, but it can be used at any level as practice material. Webreading aloud, is useful for practicing intonation (Underhill, 1994, p. 91), but a search of the literature reveals no studies that have addressed this use of oral reading. This study investigated if explicit pronunciation instruction using oral reading practice can improve students' intonation by making it more native-like.
